After lunch in Delhi Darshan Bus tour we moved towards the Qutab Minar (UNESCO Heritage Site) which is a tallest minaret of India measuring 72.5 meters tall. This magnificent structure in the part of Southern part of the capital was build by first Muslim ruler of Delhi, Qutab-ud-din Aibak in 1199 A.D. a part of it which he could not finish, was completed by his Son-in-law and successor Ittutmish added 3 storeys to the monument in 1368. The fifth and last storey was added by Feroz Shah Tuglak. The view of this iconic monument is spectacular and completely different at day time and at night. The next destination was Lotus Temple worship place of Bahi religion and an example of Modern art, this monument resembles Lotus flower and that’s why it is famously known as Lotus Temple. This is a very recent architectural marvel of the Bahai faith and is visible from several spots in South Delhi. Located in Kalkaji in South part of Delhi. It is made of Marble, cement, Dolomite and Sand. After spending 1 hour at Lotus Temple our bus tour moved towards the iconic part of Delhi which is also known as walled city. On the way to walled city we stopped at Humayun Tomb. Taj Mahal is known to have inspired by Humayun’s Tomb and in many ways this magnificent Red and White building is as spectacular as the famous monument of Love at Agra. Humayun Tomb is a memorial by a grieving wife. It was build by his wife Hazi Begum in 1565- 1566, 9 years after his death. She is set to have spend One and a half Million Rupee on the building. Raj Ghat the cremation point of India’s Father of Nation “Mahatma Gandhi” and a museum is dedicated to him by the name of Gandhi Museum. Spending 1 and a half hour here, we went to the Red Fort at Walled City. This monument is named after the red colour sand stone of which it is build. It is laid out along the river Yamuna as an irrergular Octagon surrounded by a wall of about 2.5 kms in circumfrance. Its remains is an impressive testimony to Mughal grandeur. It was build between 1638 and 1648 A.D. After Shah Jahan decided to move its capital from Agra to the newly planned city of Shah Jahanabad which is known today as Old Delhi or Walled City. There is another attraction in the fort that is Light and Sound show in late evening. There is lot more to read at Delhi Darshan
